How to narrow down a bed frame
This page holds the whole range, which is a lot to scroll. Three decisions cut it down fast, and the filters above are built around them: what size, what the frame is made of, and whether it needs to store anything.
1. Size
Usually settled by the room rather than preference. Measure the wall the bed will sit against and allow roughly 60 cm of walking space on each side you actually use. The common upgrade question is double versus queen for two adults — a double is comfortable for one and tight for two long-term. In a child's room the equivalent question is single versus king single: same narrow footprint, but the king single is long enough that a teenager will not outgrow it.
2. Material
Timber is the most durable surface in a Queensland bedroom — it handles humidity, wipes clean and hides wear. Upholstered frames, including velvet, give you a padded headboard you can actually lean against, which matters if you read or work in bed. PU leather sits between the two and is the easiest to keep clean in a kids' room.
3. Storage
Worth deciding before you fall for a particular frame, because it narrows the range sharply. Gas lift opens the entire bed footprint as one cavity — the most capacity by far, best for seasonal bulk. Drawers give smaller compartments you can reach without clearing the bed, so they suit everyday items. Bookcase headboards add shelving at arm's reach and on several frames remove the need for bedside tables altogether. All three sit together in bed frames with storage.
Sizes run from single through to king. Everything here is imported direct and held at our Rocklea warehouse, so the stock line on each card is the real position rather than a supplier estimate. Bed frames are also on display across our South-East Queensland showrooms — worth calling ahead to check a particular model is on the floor before you make the trip.
Bed Frames in Brisbane & the Gold Coast
A bed frame does more than hold a mattress — it sets the tone for the room, supports your sleep and, chosen well, lasts for years. A2Z Furniture is a family-run business that imports direct and holds stock locally, which means fair prices, most of the range in stock now, and reliable delivery rather than a months-long wait. Whatever the size, style or budget, there's a frame here to anchor your bedroom.
Find the Right Size
Size usually comes first — set by the room and who's sleeping in it. A single suits kids' rooms, guest spaces and tight floor plans, while a king single gives a growing teen a little more width. A double works for solo sleepers who like room to move; a queen is the most popular choice in Australia and the right balance for most couples. Step up to a king or super king when the room can take it and you want maximum space to spread out.
Choose a Material
Timber & Wood
Warm, strong and timeless — suits everything from coastal to traditional rooms. Browse wooden bed frames.
Fabric & Upholstered
A padded headboard is softer to lean on and adds a calm, finished look. See fabric, upholstered and velvet frames.
PU Leather & Metal
PU leather wipes clean and looks sharp; metal is light, simple and easy to move. Compare PU leather and metal frames.
Storage, Gas Lift & Other Features
If floor space is tight, the bed can earn its keep. A bed frame with storage puts drawers or a gas-lift base where dead space used to be — ideal for spare bedding and out-of-season clothes, or see our king beds with storage if you're after the larger size. Bookcase beds add a shelved headboard for books and a lamp, and our kids beds are built for younger rooms. Prefer the whole look matched in one go? A coordinated bedroom suite pairs the bed with bedsides and a tallboy or dresser, and if you'd rather have the base and mattress in a single unit, an ensemble bed does exactly that.
How to Choose a Bed Frame
Measure the room first. Leave space to walk around the bed, open doors and fit bedside tables — then work out which size fits comfortably rather than just which one you'd like.
Bed frame vs bed base. A bed frame is the outer structure — headboard, side rails and footboard — while the base is the surface the mattress sits on. Some of our frames include an integrated slatted base; others are designed to take a separate base. The product page lists what each frame includes.
Match the support to your mattress. Most frames here use a slatted base, which suits the majority of mattresses and helps with airflow. A few mattresses are made for a solid base — if yours is, check the product page or ask our team before you buy.
Headboard and storage. Decide whether you want a tall statement headboard or a low-profile look, and whether under-bed storage would earn its place. Both narrow the choice quickly.
Don't Forget the Mattress
The frame holds it up, but the mattress is what you actually sleep on. Frames and mattresses are sold separately so you can match the right comfort to the right base — and buying them together often works out better value. Ask our team in any showroom and they'll help you pair a frame and mattress to suit your budget. Prefer to keep it local? Browse our Australian made mattresses.
Bed Frames to Suit Every Budget
Because we import direct and hold stock locally, we can keep prices fair without dropping the build quality — the slats, joinery and base that actually carry your mattress. If you're shopping to a tight number, our affordable bed frames gather the best value picks in one place, and you can spread the cost with Afterpay, Zip or Latitude.
Browse by Style
Shopping for a particular look? The breezy ease of Hamptons and coastal furniture suits light, airy bedrooms; Scandinavian pieces lean on clean lines and pale timber; and rustic furniture brings warmth through honest, solid timber. Each range runs across the home, so the bedroom can match the rest of it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the most popular bed frame size in Australia?
Queen — it gives couples enough room without taking over the bedroom. Single and king single are next, mostly for kids' rooms and guest spaces, while king and super king suit larger rooms and sleepers who want to spread out.
What's the difference between a bed frame and a bed base?
A bed frame is the structure around the bed — headboard, side rails and often a footboard. A bed base is the surface the mattress rests on. Some frames have an integrated slatted base built in; others take a separate base. Each product page states what's included.
Do your bed frames come with a base or a mattress?
Most frames include a slatted base, but mattresses are sold separately so you can choose the comfort that suits you. Check the individual product page to see exactly what a frame includes, and browse our mattress range to complete the bed.
Does my mattress need a slatted or solid base?
Most mattresses are happy on a slatted base, which also helps with airflow. A few are designed for a solid base — if yours is, check the product page or ask our team and we'll point you to a suitable frame.
Are your bed frames easy to assemble?
Yes. Frames arrive flat-packed with clear instructions, and most go together with a few basic tools. We'd suggest two people for the larger sizes to make it quicker and easier.
Do you have cheap or affordable bed frames?
We do — importing direct keeps prices fair across the range, and our affordable bed frames page gathers the best-value options together. Interest-free payment is available through Afterpay, Zip and Latitude.
Do you deliver, and is it free?
Free local delivery applies within about 10 km of our Rocklea warehouse. Deliveries beyond that — across greater Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Ipswich, Logan, the Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba — are available for a fee. Full conditions are on our delivery page.
