Buying With Confidence at A2Z Furniture.

You can buy with confidence at The A2Z Furniture because we want our customers to be completely satisfied with their purchase. To make it easier for you, we've included our warranty statement below.

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:

  • to cancel your service contract with us; and
  • to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.

You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods.

If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion.

You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.

We recommend that you read our Warranty Policy before making a purchase so that you are aware of our refund and repair policies as well as your rights under Australian Consumer Law. You may also wish to review our Returns & Refund Policy and Pickup and Delivery Terms.

Definitions.

In this document, the following terms carry the meanings set out below.

  • ACL — means the Australian Consumer Law
  • As Is — means a Product sold in the displayed state, including any defects which have been brought to your attention.
  • Warranty Period — means the period that we warrant a product will remain free of defects.
  • Priced — means the price paid for a Product as described in your Tax Invoice.
  • Product — means a product sold by The A2Z Furniture to You directly as a consumer.
  • Tax Invoice — means the tax invoice produced for the purchase of Products.
  • You — means the person to whom a Product has been sold or supplied by Us.
  • Website — means www.thea2zfurniture.com

Warranty Period.

Unless otherwise noted on the product page on the website, all products come with a minimum 12-month warranty. Certain products — including select mattresses — carry an extended warranty period that exceeds 12 months. Always check the individual product page for the specific warranty that applies to your purchase.

This 12-month warranty is a promise we make voluntarily, in addition to your legal rights. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not limited to 12 months — depending on the price and nature of the product, they may last considerably longer.

All warranty periods begin on the day the products are received (Date of pickup or delivery).

If you are given a new product (of the same or a different design) as part of a warranty claim, the original warranty period stands and duration will not be extended.

Proof of Purchase.

When requesting a refund, exchange, or repair for a product you purchased from us, you must show us reasonable proof of purchase and may be required to present Photo ID. Proof of purchase includes:

  • Tax Invoice
  • Order confirmation email
  • Payment plan details in case of Afterpay, Zippay and Humm

If you have lost or misplaced your tax invoice, we will do our best to find the transaction in our system. We can also accept your order confirmation email, your payment plan details, or a bank or credit card statement showing the purchase. If you bought several items in one transaction, a statement alone may not identify the product — so please give us as much detail as you can and we will help where we can.

Scope of Warranty.

To be entitled to claim, the defect in the part or product must appear within the warranty period.

Please keep in mind the The A2Z furniture warranty applies to the original purchaser only (warranty is not transferable).

Warranty applies to products purchased from The A2Z furniture used for reasonable domestic purposes and not for commercial reasons.

Please tell us as soon as you notice a defect. This is a request, not a deadline, and it does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. However, if a delay in telling us causes further damage, that additional damage may not be covered.

If a Serious Defect in the Product occurs during the warranty period, you may choose between a refund and a replacement, or you may keep the product and ask for compensation for the reduction in its value. Where a defect is not a Serious Defect, we will repair the product, or we may choose to replace or refund it instead, within a reasonable time.

A Serious Defect occurs when:

  • The defect (or defects) are no less than what is considered a major failure under the ACL
  • The product is significantly different to any description, sample or model
  • The product is substantially unfit for purpose and cannot be easily remedied within a reasonable time
  • The product is unsafe

Scuff marks, compression (not failure) and change of shape of cushions, fabric pilling, loose or fraying stitching, tears to dust covers & minor tears generally will not constitute a Serious Defect under this warranty policy.

We can decide what constitutes a Serious Defect under this warranty policy at our sole discretion. Our decision, however, has no effect on your rights under the ACL.

What Is Not Covered

Subject to ACL, our liability under this warranty policy does not extend to:

  • Damage, failure, fading, or deterioration caused by normal wear & tear. Please note that the following may occur as a result of natural and normal usage:
    1. Leather (PU, CU, Air) and fabrics will fade and crease; your foam and fillings will soften and form the shape of the user over time.
    2. Minor stitching abnormalities that arise due to normal wear and tear that are not consistent with a defect or manufacturing fault.
  • Indentations on the surface of any new mattress as it contours to your body shape — this does not necessarily constitute a manufacturing fault. See our Mattress Buying Guide & FAQs for further information.
  • Timber products where natural variations in surface texture and grain — such as knots, mineral streaks and sap runs — affect the finish. These differences in character are not defects and not covered under warranty.
  • Minor size and weight variations of up to 5% from sample products or specifications, as most products are upholstered manually.
  • Pilling, which is a normal occurrence caused by wear and tear and does not affect the durability or functionality of the fabric.
  • Damage to sofa arms caused by excessive pressure such as sitting on them. Sofa arms are not designed to withstand excessive force.
  • Damage caused by dragging the product.
  • Damage caused by excessive pressure applied by straps during pickup or due to improper pickup method.
  • Damage caused by exiting a recliner while it is extended.
  • Damage caused by improper cleaning or use of improper cleaning products. See our Product Care guide for recommended cleaning methods.
  • Damage caused by exposing the product to the sun, extreme heat, or bright light such as lamps, or otherwise caused by your acts and/or omissions.
  • Damage caused by spills such as acid, solvents, dyes or other corrosive materials, ink, paint, or bodily fluids.
  • All pet damages.
  • Damage through any modifications, alterations, improper assembly, tampering, or products used in an abnormal manner and not for the product's intended purposes.
  • Replacement of coverings due to excessive, irregular or improper use.
  • Damage (including corrosion) caused by excessive or irregular use, neglect, abuse, assembly, placement, storage, care or maintenance.
  • Damage caused when the Product has been used in commercial environments.
  • Breakage or damage to glass tabletops or mirrors.
  • Damage caused by Acts of God.
  • Defects in Products sold "As Is" which have been brought to your attention prior to purchase.

Clearance Items & Products Sold As Is.

Clearance and display items are not covered by our voluntary 12-month warranty. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law still apply to these items. Defects in Products sold "As Is" which have been brought to your attention prior to purchase are not covered under this warranty policy. We highly recommend you visit our store and check the product before purchasing. You can find your nearest showroom on our Store Locations page.

How to Make a Warranty Claim.

To make a claim under this warranty policy, the purchaser must:

  1. Tell us as soon as you notice a problem — ideally within 7 days. This is a request, not a deadline: it does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which apply for as long as is reasonable for the product concerned. If a delay in telling us causes further damage, that additional damage may not be covered.
  2. Email us a detailed description of the problem with a copy of the original tax invoice, plus a photo or video clearly showing the problem — to the email address of the respective store from which the goods were purchased. Store email addresses are listed on our Contact Us page.
  3. Please include everything you are aware of in your initial claim so we can deal with it all at once. If you notice something later, contact us and we will treat it as a further claim.

Please note it can take up to 7 working days for us to reply as we aim to give as much attention and care to every customer. We will strive to answer each claim as quickly as possible.

If you need to return a product to us, please contact us before arranging any transport. We have freight arrangements in place and can usually organise collection more cheaply and more safely than a general courier. If you arrange your own transport without contacting us first, we can only reimburse a reasonable amount for that transport.

If a part or product is determined by The A2Z Furniture to have a manufacturing defect, The A2Z Furniture will, at its election, choose whether to repair or replace that part or product.

Cost of Transportation.

If your claim is covered by a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law, we cover the cost of putting it right. This includes collecting the product from you and returning it, where it cannot be returned, removed or transported without significant cost to you — for example because of its size, weight, or the way it is installed. Most furniture falls into this category.

During the warranty period we provide free pick-up and drop-off within 50 km of the store you purchased from. Beyond 50 km, we will still collect the product at our cost where the Australian Consumer Law requires it. Otherwise we will agree the transport arrangement, and any cost, with you in advance.

If we inspect a product and find no fault, or the problem is not covered by this warranty or the Australian Consumer Law — for example damage caused by misuse, accident, or normal wear and tear — we may ask you to pay reasonable transport, call-out and inspection costs. We will give you an estimate of those costs before we collect the product, so you can decide whether to go ahead. We will not charge more than our actual reasonable cost.

We will never charge a call-out or transport fee to repair a fault that is covered by a consumer guarantee.
