How to choose the right bar stool

1. Match the seat height to your bench

For a standard Australian kitchen bench around 90 cm high, look for a counter stool with a seat height of roughly 65–75 cm. For a taller home bar or pub-style bench around 105–110 cm, step up to a bar-height stool with a seat around 75–80 cm. As a rule of thumb, leave 25–30 cm between the top of the seat and the underside of the bench for comfortable knee room.

2. Choose swivel or fixed

Swivel bases make it easy to turn in and out of the bench and are a popular choice for kitchen islands and home bars. Fixed-leg stools sit a little more solidly and can suit a narrower footprint — both are available across our range.
