The Canberra is built around a whisper-quiet hydraulic gas lift mechanism that lifts the entire mattress platform, revealing a full-footprint storage cavity underneath — far more capacity than any pair of footboard pull-out drawers. Up top, a bookshelf headboard adds an open display shelf for books, candles or framed photos, lit by an integrated plug-in LED strip with a button on the side of the headboard, and fitted with a USB charging port set flush into the shelf — phone charged and put down without a bedside adaptor. Below the shelf, two push-open flap doors hide a further pair of compartments — bedtime clutter out of sight without a single visible handle. Fine vertical fluting runs across the base front, side rails and footboard — shallow, low-relief grooves that add quiet texture to the natural honey eucalyptus rather than shouting for attention. Available in Queen and King.

Care instructions
Dust the fluted grooves weekly
Use a soft brush or microfibre cloth along the vertical reeded channels on the base and footboard — they collect more dust than flat surfaces. Don't skip the bookshelf shelf.
Damp cloth on marks
Wipe marks with a barely-damp soft cloth, then dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners and ammonia-based sprays — they can dull the clear sealer.
Avoid direct sun exposure
Prolonged direct sunlight will lighten and unevenly fade the natural honey eucalyptus over years. Position away from harsh western windows where possible.
Operate the gas lift smoothly
Lift steadily, don't force past the stop point; close with a controlled hand rather than dropping. Avoid overloading the storage cavity with very heavy items.

The mattress sits on a slatted platform hinged at the head end. A hydraulic gas lift mechanism takes the weight, so you can raise the platform with one hand and access the full-footprint cavity beneath. Much greater capacity than footboard pull-out drawers — suitcases, spare bedding, off-season clothing, blankets, kids' toys. Close with a controlled hand rather than dropping.

Eucalyptus is denser and harder than rubber wood. The added density matters here: the gas lift mechanism puts more stress on the frame than a standard bed base, so the structure has to bear repeated lift cycles plus stored weight. Eucalyptus also has a beautiful natural honey grain that looks better under a clear sealer than rubber wood does in similar treatment.
