About the Materials

The Chandler uses hybrid construction. Structural elements (frame, recessed base, side rails) are solid rubber wood; the decorative panels (the nested headboard frames, the reeded central insert, footboard panels) are timber veneer over MDF. Both stained the same deep Haliton Brown so the bed reads as one continuous piece. MDF stays flat and dimensionally stable across the wide panel surfaces, keeping the precise architectural detail crisp where solid timber would expand and contract with humidity.

The upper mattress platform sits on a recessed inner base — the base is set back from the side and end edges by a small distance, so when you look at the bed from across the room you see the mattress platform overhanging the recessed base below. The shadow line under the platform creates the visual illusion that the bed is hovering. Worth knowing: the base is a solid plinth (not open legs), so the effect is purely visual — floor access underneath the main footprint is the same as any other plinth-base bed.

What does Haliton Brown look like up close?

You can order online and pick up for free from our Rocklea Distribution Warehouse at 48 Randolph St, Rocklea QLD 4106, but only by appointment. Call 07 3161 5415 to arrange pickup, and bring your order confirmation email and photo ID to the store.

If you paid by credit card, the cardholder must be there with photo ID to verify details.

Note that when using POLI Internet Banking, goods can be picked up or delivered only after funds are received in our Bank Account. We'll email you about this.

If someone else is picking up for you, contact us beforehand, or you won't get your goods.
