King storage beds
A king has the largest footprint of any standard size, which makes it the best size for under-bed storage — there is simply more of it. On a gas-lift king the cavity is big enough to swallow the things that otherwise live in the garage.
Gas lift or drawers?
They solve different problems. Gas lift frames hinge the whole mattress platform up on hydraulic struts and open the entire footprint of the bed as one cavity — by far the most capacity, and the right call for suitcases, spare bedding and off-season clothing. You do have to clear the bed to get in, so it suits things you reach for seasonally.
Drawers give you two to four compartments built into the footboard or side rails that open without disturbing the bed — less capacity, but the one you want for everyday items. They need floor clearance in front to pull out fully, so check that against your walking space and any rug. Bookcase headboards add a third kind: shelving at arm's reach that on several frames replaces bedside tables altogether.
One practical note specific to kings: gas-lift platforms are heavy at this size. The struts do the lifting and are rated for it, but check there is clearance above the bed for the platform to swing up, particularly under a sloped ceiling or a low-hung pendant.

That's 10 cm narrower than the US king (193 cm), so always check dimensions when comparing international retailers.
