Overview
A slim 160 cm table in two honest finishes
The Dell II Dining Table pairs a hardwood frame with an MDF top — a combination chosen for stability rather than cost-cutting: the hardwood carries the structure while the engineered top stays flat and resists the warping a solid slab can develop. At 160 cm long and 80 cm wide it's noticeably slimmer than a standard 90 cm table, which is exactly what makes it work in a narrow dining space or a galley-style kitchen. Choose black for a contemporary room or dirty oak for a warmer, aged-timber tone.
Hardwood Frame, MDF Top
The frame and legs are hardwood, which is where a dining table takes its load. The top is MDF — engineered board that stays flat and resists warping better than a solid panel of the same price. We'd rather tell you exactly what it is than call it “wood” and leave you guessing.
160 × 80 cm — Slim by Design
At 80 cm wide it's about 10 cm narrower than the usual dining table, which buys back real walking room in a narrow dining space. You still get two comfortable settings a side, plus the ends when you need them.
Black or Dirty Oak
Black reads contemporary and disappears into a dark or high-contrast room. Dirty oak is a warm, greyed brown that suits pale walls and natural textures. Same table, two quite different rooms.
Clean Rectangular Top
No apron detailing, no ornament — a flat rectangular surface that pairs with almost any chair style and doesn't date. Easy to wipe down, easy to live with.
Seats & space
How many it seats, and the room it needs
A dining table is the one piece people most often buy too big for the room. Three checks settle it — how many it really seats, how much floor it needs, and whether your chairs fit underneath. Here's how the Dell II's 160 × 80 × 77 cm measures up against the Australian rules of thumb.
- Allow 60 cm of table edge per person. At 160 cm that's two comfortable settings a side — four in total, or six once you seat the two ends. Four is the everyday number.
- Leave 90 cm clear on every side. That's the Australian standard for pulling a chair out and walking behind it. Add 180 cm to each of the table's dimensions and you get the minimum room: about 3.4 m × 2.6 m. The 80 cm width is the point of this table — it needs 10 cm less depth than a standard one.
- Check your chair seat height. The top sits at 77 cm, just above the 71–76 cm norm. A dining chair with a 45–48 cm seat height gives comfortable knee room; very low or heavily padded seats will feel cramped.
- Measure the doorway, not just the room. It ships flat, so getting it in is straightforward — but once built it won't turn a tight corner. Build it in the room it's staying in.
Not sure it fits? Mark out 160 × 80 cm on your floor with masking tape and sit a chair at it before you order. Or call our showroom team on 07 3161 5415 — we'll talk it through against your room measurements.

Styling
Chairs, and what goes on top
The Dell II is deliberately neutral, so the chairs do the talking. In black, it takes a modern chair well — moulded plastic, black metal, or a mid-century timber leg. In dirty oak, natural textures suit it best: rattan, bentwood or a pale upholstered seat. The Darwin, Dexter and Daybreak chairs all pair cleanly with it. At 80 cm wide, keep the centre light — a runner and one low piece rather than a tall centrepiece that eats the width.

MDF tops handle everyday dining well but don't like standing water — wipe spills rather than letting them sit, and use mats under anything hot or wet. That one habit is the difference between a top that lasts and one that swells at the edges.
Caring for your table
Use placemats & coasters
Hot dishes and wet glasses are the main risk to an MDF top. Placemats, coasters and a trivet under anything straight off the stove are the single best thing you can do for it.
Don't leave spills sitting
Wipe liquid up promptly rather than letting it sit. Water that soaks into an engineered top at a join or an edge can cause swelling that won't come back out.
Wipe with a damp cloth
A soft, barely damp microfibre cloth after meals is enough. Avoid soaking the surface, and skip abrasive scourers and harsh chemicals.
Keep out of direct sun
Strong direct sunlight fades finishes over time, on black and on dirty oak alike. Place away from harsh sun, or close curtains during the brightest hours.
What's in the box
Flat-packed, drill required
The Dell II Dining Table ships flat-packed — the top with the legs and fittings packed alongside. Assembly is straightforward but it does need an electric drill; a screwdriver alone won't do it. If you'd rather not, add assembly to your order above and our team will build it in your home on delivery.

Delivery & pickup
Two ways to get it home
Delivery cost is calculated by item and distance — enter your details in the estimator above, or at checkout. Delivery is to ground level / front garage only. The table travels flat-packed, so doorways and stairs are rarely a problem; add assembly above if you'd like it built in the room on delivery.
Collect free from our Rocklea distribution warehouse by appointment. The carton is flat but 1.6 m long, so bring a vehicle that can take it — a ute, van or trailer, or a wagon with the seats folded. Bring your order confirmation and photo ID. For full terms, see our Pickup & Delivery Terms.
Change-of-mind returns are accepted under our Return Policy; full conditions apply.

FAQ
Common questions
Four comfortably, or six with the ends in use. At 160 cm long you get two settings down each side at the Australian standard of 60 cm of table edge per person; a chair at each end takes it to six.
About 3.4 m × 2.6 m as a minimum. The rule is 90 cm of clear space on every side so chairs can be pulled out and people can walk past — add 180 cm to each of the table's dimensions (160 × 80 cm). The slim 80 cm width is what buys back the walking room.
No, and we won't pretend otherwise. The frame and legs are hardwood; the top is MDF with a wood-look finish. That combination keeps the top flat and resistant to warping at this price, but it isn't solid timber. If you want a solid timber top, look at the Jayden or Jericho dining tables instead.
Yes. It arrives flat-packed and needs an electric drill to build — a screwdriver on its own isn't enough. If you'd rather not, add table assembly to your order and our team will build it in your home on delivery.
The top sits at 77 cm, just above the usual 71–76 cm. Chairs with a seat height of about 45–48 cm give comfortable knee room; very low seats or thickly padded ones will feel tight.
The Dell II is the larger, heavier version: 160 × 80 cm in black or dirty oak. The original Dell comes in two sizes — a 110 × 70 cm four-seater and a 150 × 90 cm six-seater — and in three colours, at a lower price.
No — the price is for the table alone. Dining chairs are sold separately.
Full details
Dell II Dining Table — full product details
The Dell II Dining Table is a modern minimalist dining table measuring 160 cm long, 80 cm wide and 77 cm high, available in black or a dirty-oak finish. The frame and legs are hardwood and the top is MDF with a wood-look finish — a combination that keeps the top flat and resistant to warping. At 80 cm the top is slimmer than a standard 90 cm dining table, which is what makes it work in a narrow dining space or a galley kitchen.
At the Australian standard of 60 cm of table edge per person, 160 cm seats four comfortably down the sides and six once a chair goes at each end. Allow at least 90 cm of clear floor on every side so chairs can be pulled out and people can walk behind them, which puts the minimum room size at roughly 3.4 m × 2.6 m. At 77 cm the top sits just above the common 71–76 cm range, so pair it with dining chairs of about 45–48 cm seat height.
The table ships flat-packed and requires an electric drill to assemble — in-home assembly can be added to your order. It carries a 1-year warranty. Images are for illustration only; the actual product might be slightly different — we highly recommend you visit the store before the purchase. If you want a solid timber top instead, see the Jayden or Jericho dining tables; for a smaller or cheaper option, see the Dell Dining Table. See it in person at any of our five A2Z Furniture showrooms: Rocklea, Virginia, Bundall (Gold Coast), North Ipswich and Beenleigh.
