Overview

A 190 cm farmhouse table built for a full house

The Homestead Dining Table is a rustic farmhouse table built from solid acacia wood — a genuine hardwood, not board or veneer. The top wears a distressed, weathered finish with layered brown, grey and whitewashed tones over visible grain, while four chunky painted legs carry it in soft white. At 190 cm long and 100 cm wide it seats six comfortably with room down the middle for platters, and it matches the rest of the Homestead range piece for piece. It arrives flat-packed in one carton and takes an electric drill to build — or add assembly at checkout and we'll do it for you.

Solid Acacia Wood

Top and base are both solid acacia — a hardwood with rich natural grain and serious longevity. Heavier and more durable than MDF or veneer, and it takes the knocks a family dining table collects. Each piece varies slightly in grain and tone; that's the material, not a flaw.

Distressed Timber Top

The weathered driftwood-style finish layers brown, grey and whitewash over the grain. It's a forgiving surface for everyday dining — small marks read as character rather than damage, which is exactly the point of a farmhouse table.

Four Chunky Painted Legs

Solid, squared legs in soft white anchor the table visually and physically. Legs at the corners mean no centre pedestal in the way of knees, and chairs pull straight out along each side.

190 cm of Table

Long enough for six at the AU-standard 60 cm per person, with 100 cm of width so there's still a runway down the centre for serving dishes, boards and candles rather than a bare strip between placemats.

Seats & space

How many it seats, and the room it needs

A dining table is the one piece people most often buy too big for the room. Three checks settle it — how many it really seats, how much floor it needs around it, and whether your chairs fit underneath. Here's how the Homestead's 190 × 100 × 78 cm measures up against the Australian rules of thumb.

Dining table sizing guide: allow 60 cm of table edge per person, leave at least 90 cm of clear floor on every side, pair a 71 to 78 cm high table with chairs of 45 to 48 cm seat height for 25 to 30 cm of knee room, and a table-length-to-seats ready reckoner from 120 cm seating four up to 270 cm seating ten.
6Seats six comfortably — three per long side at the standard 60 cm per person.
3.7 × 2.8 mMinimum room size, allowing the 90 cm of clearance you need to pull chairs out.
78 cmTable height — a touch taller than the usual 71–76 cm, so check your chair seats.
  • Allow 60 cm of table edge per person. At 190 cm long, that's three settings down each side — six in total. You can squeeze one in at each end for eight, but only with narrow chairs and for occasional use, not every night. We'd rather tell you that now than after it arrives.
  • Leave 90 cm clear on every side. That's the Australian standard for pulling a chair out and walking behind it. Add 180 cm to each of the table's dimensions and you get the minimum room: about 3.7 m × 2.8 m. If the table sits near a kitchen walkway, aim for 105–120 cm of clearance instead — roughly 4.0 m × 3.1 m of room.
  • Check your chair seat height. This table's top sits at 78 cm, a little above the 71–76 cm norm. A standard dining chair with a 45–48 cm seat height gives comfortable knee room; very low or heavily upholstered seats will feel cramped. The matching Homestead Dining Chair is made to pair with this table.
  • Measure the doorway, not just the room. The table ships flat in one 195 × 105 × 25 cm carton, so getting it in is easy — but once built it's 190 cm long and won't turn a tight corner. Build it in the room it's staying in.

Not sure it fits? Mark out 190 × 100 cm on your floor with masking tape and sit a chair at it before you order. Or call our showroom team on 07 3161 5415 — we'll talk it through against your room measurements, and you can see the table set up at our Rocklea showroom.

Styling

Chairs, and what goes on top

The straightforward route is the matching Homestead Dining Chair — six of them, same range, same finish — or the Homestead 7 Piece Dining Set, which is this table with six chairs in one purchase. If you'd rather mix, the white-and-driftwood palette is deliberately neutral: black metal café chairs give it a modern farmhouse edge, natural rattan or bentwood chairs lean coastal, and upholstered linen chairs soften it for a formal dining room. Keep the centre clear with one long runner, a low bowl or a pair of candles — at 100 cm wide there's room for a real centrepiece without crowding the plates.

Acacia is a natural material — each piece shows slight differences in grain pattern and tone, which is part of its character rather than a defect. The same solid acacia, white base and driftwood-finish panels run across the whole Homestead range, so pieces bought at different times still match.

Caring for your table

🍽️

Use placemats & coasters

Hot plates, hot pans and wet glasses are what mark a timber dining top. Placemats, coasters and a trivet under anything straight off the stove will do more for this table than any polish.

🧹

Wipe the timber top

A soft, dry or barely damp microfibre cloth after meals is enough. Don't let spills sit — wipe them up rather than leaving liquid to soak into the grain.

🧽

Clean the painted legs

A slightly damp cloth handles the white painted base; for scuffs, a little mild soap on a damp cloth. Skip abrasive scourers and harsh chemicals.

☀️

Keep out of direct sun

Strong direct sunlight fades timber finishes and yellows white paint over time. Place away from harsh sun, or close curtains during the brightest hours.

What's in the box

One carton, flat-packed

The Homestead Dining Table ships flat in a single carton measuring 195 × 105 × 25 cm — the top in one piece with the four legs and fittings packed alongside. Assembly is straightforward but it does need an electric drill; a screwdriver alone won't do it. If you'd rather not, add assembly to your order above and our team will build it in your home on delivery.

Delivery & pickup

Two ways to get it home

Delivery cost is calculated by item and distance — enter your details in the estimator above, or at checkout. Delivery is to ground level / front garage only. The table travels flat-packed in one 195 × 105 × 25 cm carton, so doorways and stairs are rarely a problem; add assembly above if you'd like it built in the room on delivery.

Collect free from our Rocklea distribution warehouse by appointment. The carton is 195 × 105 × 25 cm and flat, so bring a vehicle that can take that length — a ute, van or trailer, or a wagon with the seats folded. Bring your order confirmation and photo ID. For full terms, see our Pickup & Delivery Terms.

Change-of-mind returns are accepted under our Return Policy; full conditions apply.

FAQ

Common questions

Six comfortably. At 190 cm long you get three settings down each side at the Australian standard of 60 cm of table edge per person. You can add one at each end for eight, but only with narrow chairs and for occasional use — day to day, treat it as a six-seater.

About 3.7 m × 2.8 m as a minimum. The rule is 90 cm of clear space on every side so chairs can be pulled out and people can walk past — add 180 cm to each of the table's dimensions (190 × 100 cm) and that's your floor. If the table sits near a kitchen walkway, allow 105–120 cm of clearance instead, or roughly 4.0 m × 3.1 m.

Yes — both the top and the base are solid acacia, a genuine hardwood, not MDF, particle board or veneer. Acacia takes a distressed finish without losing structural integrity, which is exactly what the weathered driftwood-style top is. Because it's a natural timber, grain and tone vary slightly piece to piece.

Yes. It arrives flat-packed in one carton and needs an electric drill to build — a screwdriver on its own isn't enough. If you'd rather not, add table assembly to your order and our team will build it in your home on delivery.

The table top sits at 78 cm, slightly above the usual 71–76 cm. Chairs with a seat height of about 45–48 cm give comfortable knee room; very low seats or thickly padded ones will feel tight. The matching Homestead Dining Chair is made to pair with this table. If your chairs have arms and you need the exact underside clearance, call us on 07 3161 5415 and we'll measure a floor piece.

No — the price is for the table alone. The matching Homestead Dining Chair is sold separately, or you can buy the Homestead 7 Piece Dining Set, which is this table together with six chairs.

Yes — the Homestead range also includes the matching Dining Chair, 7 Piece Dining Set, Console Table, Coffee Table, TV Unit and Study Desk, all in the same solid acacia with the white base and driftwood-finish panels. See "Complete the look" above.

Homestead Dining Table — full product details

The Homestead Dining Table is a rustic farmhouse dining table built from solid acacia wood, measuring 190 cm long, 100 cm wide and 78 cm high. The top wears a distressed, weathered driftwood-style finish with layered brown, grey and whitewashed tones over visible grain, carried on four chunky squared legs painted in a soft white. Corner legs rather than a centre pedestal mean chairs pull straight out along both long sides, and at 100 cm wide there's a genuine runway down the middle for serving dishes, boards and candles.

At the Australian standard of 60 cm of table edge per person, 190 cm seats six comfortably — three settings down each side — with room for two more at the ends on occasion. Allow at least 90 cm of clear floor on every side so chairs can be pulled out and people can walk behind them, which puts the minimum room size at roughly 3.7 m × 2.8 m. The 78 cm top height is a little above the common 71–76 cm range, so pair it with dining chairs of about 45–48 cm seat height; the matching Homestead Dining Chair is built for it.

The table ships flat-packed in one 195 × 105 × 25 cm carton and requires an electric drill to assemble — in-home assembly can be added to your order. It carries a 1-year warranty. Images are for illustration only; the actual product might be slightly different — we highly recommend you visit the store before the purchase. It is part of the wider Homestead range alongside the matching Homestead Dining Chair, Homestead 7 Piece Dining Set, Homestead Console Table, Homestead Coffee Table, Homestead TV Unit and Homestead Study Desk — all in the same solid acacia with the white base and driftwood-finish panels.
