Overview
A contouring foam core under a cover you can actually wash
The Mellow Pillow Bamboo Memory Foam Pillow pairs a solid memory foam core with a removable bamboo cover. The foam holds a consistent 12 cm profile and reshapes to your head and neck rather than flattening under them, and because the cover unzips and goes through the machine, the part of the pillow that actually gets dirty is the part you can clean.
Solid foam, not loose fill
A single moulded memory foam core keeps its shape night after night. There is no loose filling to migrate to one end or clump, so the profile you buy is the profile you keep.
A 12 cm profile
Mid-to-high as pillows go. That extra height is there to fill the gap between your head and the mattress — which is why profile, not price, is the thing to match to how you sleep.
Removable bamboo cover
The cover comes off the foam entirely, so it can be washed properly and put back — rather than spot-cleaned around a filling that must stay dry.
Standard bed sizing
At 60 × 40 cm it fits a standard Australian pillowcase and sits comfortably on any bed from a single through to a king.
Finding your fit
Is a 12 cm profile right for how you sleep?
A pillow's job is to fill the gap between your head and the mattress so your neck stays in line with your spine. How big that gap is depends almost entirely on which way you sleep — which is why the same pillow can be perfect for one person and useless for the next. Here is the general guidance, so you can judge it against yourself rather than take our word for it.
Side sleepers
Lying on your side leaves the widest gap — the width of your shoulder. A higher profile like 12 cm is generally what fills it, keeping your head level rather than tipped down towards the mattress. The broader your shoulders, the more height you tend to need.
Back sleepers
On your back the gap is smaller, so a medium profile usually suits. Twelve centimetres can work well if you have a broader frame or a softer mattress that lets your shoulders sink in — and can feel too high if you don't. Worth trying in person.
Stomach sleepers
Face down, there is barely a gap at all, so a low, flat pillow is usually the better match. We would not steer a dedicated stomach sleeper to a 12 cm profile — browse the full pillow range for a lower option.
This is general guidance on pillow height, not a medical recommendation, and it is a starting point rather than a rule — your mattress firmness and your own build both change the answer. If you have neck or back pain, please talk to a health professional about what is right for you. Better still, come and rest your head on one at any of our five SE QLD showrooms.
Profile & sizeHow tall it actually sits
Measured at the highest point with the pillow uncompressed. Memory foam compresses under the weight of your head, so the height you sleep at will be lower than the height you measure — that is normal, and it is why profile figures are best used to compare one pillow against another rather than read as a finished number.

Solid foam vs shredded foam
Both are memory foam, and they behave quite differently. A solid core — like this one — holds one consistent shape and height, which is what you want if you have found a profile that suits you. A shredded fill can be opened up and adjusted, trading consistency for the ability to tune the height yourself. If you would rather set your own profile, the shredded memory foam version is the one to look at.
Care & washingWashing it without wrecking it
A memory foam pillow has two parts with two different rules, and mixing them up is the single most common way one of these gets ruined. The cover is washable. The foam is not.
The bamboo cover
Unzip it, take it right off the foam, and machine-wash it. Wash it separately from the foam core — never with it. Follow the care label sewn into the cover for temperature and drying.
The memory foam core
Do not machine-wash, wring or tumble-dry the foam. Water breaks memory foam down and it will not recover its shape. Spot-clean marks with a barely damp cloth, then let it air-dry completely away from direct heat and sunlight before the cover goes back on.
Use a pillow protector
The cheapest way to keep the cover clean and cut down how often it needs washing. It sits between the pillowcase and the cover and takes the wear instead.
Air it regularly
Strip the pillowcase back and let the pillow air for an hour or so when you change the bedding. It keeps things fresher between washes.
Keep it out of direct sun
Prolonged direct sunlight and high heat degrade foam and can yellow the cover. Dry both in the shade.
Turn it end to end
Rotating the pillow occasionally spreads the wear across the foam rather than concentrating it where your head always lands.
Recommended care products
Always check the care label on your pillow and follow it.

What the warranty does not cover
- The gradual loss of loft that every filling develops with use. This is normal wear, not a fault.
- Damage caused by washing against the care instructions — machine-washing a filling that is spot-clean only, tumble-drying, bleaching or dry-cleaning.
- Staining, soiling or damage from spills, which is why we recommend a protector from day one.
- A change of mind about comfort or firmness. Firmness is personal, so please try it at one of our showrooms before you buy.
This warranty is in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

FAQ
Questions we get asked
A 12 cm profile is mid-to-high, and higher profiles are generally what side sleepers need, because lying on your side leaves the widest gap between your head and the mattress. That said, the right height depends on your shoulder width and how much your mattress lets you sink in, so treat this as a starting point rather than a rule. If you can, rest your head on one at one of our showrooms before deciding.
No. The bamboo cover unzips and is machine-washable, but the memory foam core must never go in the machine. Water breaks memory foam down and it will not recover its shape. Spot-clean the foam with a barely damp cloth and let it air-dry completely, out of direct sun, before putting the cover back on.
Not on this one. The core is a single solid piece of moulded foam, so there is nothing to add or remove. If adjustable height is what you are after, the Mellow Pillow Bamboo Shredded Memory Foam Pillow uses a loose shredded fill you can open up and tune yourself.
It measures 60 × 40 × 12 cm and fits a standard Australian pillowcase. Measurements are taken by hand and can vary slightly between shipments.
Both use memory foam, but in different forms. This one has a solid moulded core, so it holds one consistent shape and profile. The shredded version is filled with loose foam pieces you can add or remove to set your own height and feel. Choose solid if you know the profile suits you and want it to stay that way; choose shredded if you would rather tune it yourself.
It is covered against manufacturing faults in materials and workmanship for 12 months from the date of purchase. Change-of-mind returns follow the same policy as the rest of our furniture range — see our warranty and returns policy for the details. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law always apply on top of any warranty we offer.
Full detailsMellow Pillow Bamboo Memory Foam Pillow — full product details
The Mellow Pillow Bamboo Memory Foam Pillow is a solid-core memory foam pillow measuring 60 × 40 × 12 cm, finished with a removable bamboo cover. The core is a single moulded piece of memory foam rather than a loose or shredded fill, so it holds a consistent shape and profile instead of migrating or clumping over time. The cover unzips completely and is machine-washable, which means the part of the pillow that collects everyday wear is the part you can clean properly — the foam core itself is spot-clean only and must never go through a machine.
At 12 cm the profile sits mid-to-high. Pillow height is the specification that matters most, because a pillow's job is to fill the gap between your head and the mattress and keep your neck in line with your spine. Side sleepers leave the widest gap and generally need the most height; back sleepers usually need less; stomach sleepers are typically better served by a low, flat pillow. Mattress firmness and your own build both shift the answer, so the guidance above is a starting point rather than a rule.
Pair it with a waterproof bamboo pillow protector to keep the cover clean between washes, or compare it against the adjustable shredded memory foam version if you would rather set your own height.
