Overview
Minimalist timber, at the price of a flat-pack
The Dalby Dining Table is a stripped-back timber table in a dirty-oak finish — a deep, greyed brown. There's no ornament to it: a clean rectangular top, square legs at the corners, and nothing else competing for attention — a clean rectangular top on an angled trestle base with a low stretcher. At 150 cm long and 90 cm wide it seats four comfortably down the sides and six once you use the ends, which makes it a sensible fit for apartments and smaller dining rooms. It arrives flat-packed and takes an electric drill to build.
Timber Top and Base
Both the top and the base are timber, so the piece has the weight and the surface feel of real wood rather than a printed board finish. Grain and tone vary slightly from piece to piece — that's the material.
Dirty Oak Finish
A greyed, warm brown that reads as aged oak. It's a deliberately neutral tone: it won't fight a pale room, and it hides the everyday marks a family table collects better than a high-gloss or very pale finish would.
150 cm — the Apartment-Friendly Size
Long enough to seat four properly at the Australian 60 cm per person, and six when you put a chair at each end, without demanding the floor space a 2-metre table needs. A genuinely usable table in a room that can't take a big one.
Trestle Base With a Stretcher
Angled legs set in from the ends, braced by a low stretcher — a trestle frame rather than four corner posts. It is what gives the Dalby its lighter, more open look, and the stretcher is what keeps a slim timber table rigid.
Seats & space
How many it seats, and the room it needs
A dining table is the one piece people most often buy too big for the room. Three checks settle it — how many it really seats, how much floor it needs, and whether your chairs fit underneath. Here's how the Dalby's 150 × 90 × 76 cm measures up against the Australian rules of thumb.
- Allow 60 cm of table edge per person. At 150 cm that's two comfortable settings a side — four in total. Adding a chair at each end takes it to six, which is how a 150 cm table is usually sold — and because the trestle legs are set in from the ends, those end seats are genuinely usable. Four is the everyday number; six works for a full table.
- Leave 90 cm clear on every side. That's the Australian standard for pulling a chair out and walking behind it. Add 180 cm to each of the table's dimensions and you get the minimum room: about 3.3 m × 2.7 m. Near a kitchen walkway, aim for 105–120 cm of clearance instead — roughly 3.6 m × 3.0 m.
- Check your chair seat height. At 76 cm the Dalby sits at the top of the standard 71–76 cm band, so most dining chairs suit it. A 45–48 cm seat height gives comfortable knee room.
- Measure the doorway, not just the room. It ships flat, so getting it in is straightforward — but once built it won't turn a tight corner. Build it in the room it's staying in.
Not sure it fits? Mark out 150 × 90 cm on your floor with masking tape and sit a chair at it before you order. Or call our showroom team on 07 3161 5415 — we'll talk it through against your room measurements.

Styling
Chairs, and what goes on top
The matching Dalby Dining Chair is the simplest answer — four of them, same range, same finish. If you'd rather mix, the dirty-oak tone is genuinely easy to pair: black metal chairs sharpen it, pale timber or rattan keeps it light and Scandinavian, and upholstered chairs in oatmeal or grey soften the whole thing. With a minimalist table, one considered centrepiece beats a cluttered one — a low bowl, a single vase or a pair of candles.

Caring for your table
Use placemats & coasters
Hot plates, hot pans and wet glasses are what mark a dining top. Placemats, coasters and a trivet under anything straight off the stove will do more for this table than any polish.
Wipe it down after meals
A soft, dry or barely damp microfibre cloth is enough. Don't let spills sit — wipe them up rather than leaving liquid to soak in.
Go easy on the cleaners
Skip abrasive scourers and harsh chemicals, which dull the finish. Mild soap on a damp cloth handles anything a dry cloth won't.
Keep out of direct sun
Strong direct sunlight fades timber finishes over time. Place away from harsh sun, or close curtains during the brightest hours.
What's in the box
Flat-packed, drill required
The Dalby Dining Table ships flat-packed — the top with the legs and fittings packed alongside. Assembly is straightforward but it does need an electric drill; a screwdriver alone won't do it. If you'd rather not, add assembly to your order above and our team will build it in your home on delivery.
- Includes
- Dalby Dining Table — table top, legs, fittings
- Assembly
- Required — electric drill needed (assembly add-on available)
- Chairs
- Not included — sold separately
The price is for the dining table alone — chairs and styling props are not included. Images are for illustration only; the actual product might be slightly different. We highly recommend you visit the store before the purchase.
Delivery & pickup
Two ways to get it home
Delivery cost is calculated by item and distance — enter your details in the estimator above, or at checkout. Delivery is to ground level / front garage only. The table travels flat-packed, so doorways and stairs are rarely a problem; add assembly above if you'd like it built in the room on delivery.
Collect free from our Rocklea distribution warehouse by appointment. The carton is flat but 1.5 m long, so bring a vehicle that can take it — a ute, van or trailer, or a wagon with the seats folded. Bring your order confirmation and photo ID. For full terms, see our Pickup & Delivery Terms.
Change-of-mind returns are accepted under our Return Policy; full conditions apply.

FAQ
Common questions
Four comfortably, or six with the ends in use. At 150 cm long you get two settings down each side at the Australian standard of 60 cm of table edge per person; a chair at each end takes it to six. Treat four as the everyday number and six as the full-house number.
About 3.3 m × 2.7 m as a minimum. The rule is 90 cm of clear space on every side so chairs can be pulled out and people can walk past — add 180 cm to each of the table's dimensions (150 × 90 cm). Near a kitchen walkway, allow 105–120 cm of clearance instead.
The top and the base are both timber. Our supplier spec sheet lists the material as timber without naming the species, so we won't claim a specific hardwood — if that matters to you, call the showroom on 07 3161 5415 and we'll check a floor piece for you.
Yes. It arrives flat-packed and needs an electric drill to build — a screwdriver on its own isn't enough. If you'd rather not, add table assembly to your order and our team will build it in your home on delivery.
Almost certainly. At 76 cm the top sits at the top of the standard 71–76 cm band, so any dining chair with a seat height of about 45–48 cm will give comfortable knee room.
No — the price is for the table alone. The matching Dalby Dining Chair is sold separately.
Full details
Dalby Dining Table — full product details
The Dalby Dining Table is a modern minimalist dining table in timber with a dirty-oak finish, measuring 150 cm long, 90 cm wide and 76 cm high. Both the top and the base are timber, and the design is deliberately plain: a clean rectangular top on an angled trestle base with a low stretcher, in a deep greyed-brown dirty-oak tone.
At the Australian standard of 60 cm of table edge per person, 150 cm seats four comfortably down the sides and six once a chair goes at each end. Allow at least 90 cm of clear floor on every side so chairs can be pulled out and people can walk behind them, which puts the minimum room size at roughly 3.3 m × 2.7 m — one of the reasons a 150 cm table suits apartments and smaller dining rooms. At 76 cm the top sits at the top of the standard 71–76 cm height band, so most dining chairs pair with it without trouble.
The table ships flat-packed and requires an electric drill to assemble — in-home assembly can be added to your order. It carries a 1-year warranty. Images are for illustration only; the actual product might be slightly different — we highly recommend you visit the store before the purchase. Pair it with the matching Dalby Dining Chair, or browse the full dining table range. See it in person at any of our five A2Z Furniture showrooms: Rocklea, Virginia, Bundall (Gold Coast), North Ipswich and Beenleigh.
