Dusk Dining Bench
Upholstered dining bench, seats 2 — 45 cm seat height, four colours
One bench seats two comfortably. A common trick is a bench on one side of the table and two chairs on the other — you get the same seat count with a different look.

Overview
A dining bench that seats two, in four finishes
The Dusk Dining Bench is an upholstered dining bench on a rubberwood frame with an MDF seat core, sold in four colour and upholstery combinations — black with dark grey fabric, black with black PU leather, brown with brown PU leather, or dirty oak with brown PU leather. At 122 cm wide it seats two comfortably along the length of a table, and the 45 cm seat height sits in the same band as a standard dining chair, so it pairs cleanly with any 71-76 cm dining table. At $249 it's a straightforward way to add or swap in bench seating — and if you'd rather not build it, add assembly for $20 flat and we'll do it on delivery.
Padded Seat
The full-length seat is cushioned over an MDF core, so it doesn't sag or feel like a bare timber plank the way budget benches do — comfortable for two through a long dinner.
Rubberwood Frame
The frame is rubberwood — a dense plantation hardwood — for stable, wobble-free footing that stands up to being pulled in and out under a busy family table.
Four Finishes
Black, brown and dirty oak with PU leather wipe clean with a damp cloth — the practical pick for households with kids. The black-with-dark-grey-fabric option trades wipe-clean for a softer, warmer texture.
No Arms — Easy to Slide
No arms or backrest hardware to catch on the table apron, so the bench slides fully under longer tables (150 cm+) between meals — worth knowing in a tighter dining room.
Will it fit?
Will it fit your table — and how many does it seat?
A dining bench is bought blind more often than a chair — most stores don't publish the seat height, and almost nobody does the seating maths honestly. Two checks settle it: whether the seat height suits your table, and how many people the bench actually seats at its width. Here's how the Dusk's 122 x 42 cm footprint and 45 cm seat measure up against the Australian rules of thumb.
- Check your table height first. Measure floor to tabletop. The rule is 25-30 cm between the seat and the table's underside for knee room. With a 45 cm seat, the Dusk lands in that band under any standard 71-76 cm Australian dining table.
- Do the seating maths honestly. At 122 cm wide and 60 cm of table edge per person, the Dusk seats two — 2 x 60 = 120 cm, which just fits within the 122 cm bench length. We won't claim it seats three; that would mean 45 cm each, tighter than the AU comfort standard.
- A bench-plus-chairs layout is a common trick. Put the Dusk on one side of the table and two chairs on the opposite side — same total seat count as four chairs, with a different look and easier squeezing-in for kids.
- No arms to catch the apron. The Dusk has no arms or backrest, so it slides fully under the table's edge rail between meals — though at 122 cm wide it only tucks fully under longer tables (150 cm and up); on a 120-150 cm table expect a little overhang at the ends.

Styling
What it pairs with
There's no matching "Dusk" table range, so the bench is built to work as a mix-and-match piece. In black PU or black-with-fabric it sharpens up a timber table like the Dell or Dalby; brown or dirty-oak PU leans warmer and sits naturally with walnut and acacia tones, and pairs well with a round table like the Daliya. The most popular layout is one bench on the long side of the table with two matching or contrasting dining chairs opposite — it seats the same number as four chairs, softens the look, and makes it easier to squeeze an extra guest in when you need to.
Materials & care
PU leather or fabric over a rubberwood frame
- Frame
- Rubberwood — a dense plantation hardwood
- Seat core
- MDF, padded cushioned seat
- Black, Brown, Dirty Oak
- PU (polyurethane) faux leather — not genuine leather
- Black with Dark Grey
- Woven fabric upholstery
- Warranty
- 1 year
PU is a faux leather: it gives the leather look at a fraction of the price and wipes clean easily, but it doesn't wear like genuine hide — keep it out of harsh sun and away from sharp edges and it will look right for years. Swatch colours on screen are approximate; we recommend seeing the finishes in a showroom before you buy.
Caring for your bench
Wipe PU after meals
A damp cloth is all the black, brown or dirty oak PU needs — spills, sauce and little fingerprints wipe straight off. Skip harsh solvents and abrasive scourers, which dull and crack PU over time.
Vacuum the fabric option
Run the upholstery brush over the dark grey fabric seat weekly. Blot spills straight away with a dry cloth — rubbing pushes the spill into the weave instead of lifting it out.
Snug the bolts twice a year
A bench takes more traffic than a single chair, and every frame loosens a little with daily use. A twice-yearly once-over with the supplied key keeps it tight and silent.
Keep out of direct sun
Strong direct sunlight fades fabric and dries PU. Position away from harsh sun, or close curtains during the brightest hours.
What's in the box
Partially assembled — screwdriver required
The Dusk arrives partially assembled: the upholstered seat comes made up, and you attach the legs with the included hardware. A screwdriver does the job; an electric drill makes it quicker. Count on a few minutes to put together — or add assembly above ($20 flat) and our team will build it on delivery.

Delivery & pickup
Two ways to get it home
Delivery cost is calculated by item and distance — enter your details in the estimator above, or at checkout. Delivery is to ground level / front garage only. The bench travels partially assembled in a compact carton (124 x 43 x 14 cm), so stairs and doorways are rarely a problem; add assembly above if you'd like it built on delivery.
Collect free from our Rocklea distribution warehouse by appointment. The carton is long but flat, and typically fits in a wagon, SUV or ute tray. Bring your order confirmation and photo ID. For full terms, see our Pickup & Delivery Terms.
Change-of-mind returns are accepted under our Return Policy; full conditions apply.

FAQ
Common questions
Almost certainly, if your table is a standard height. The seat sits at 45 cm, which leaves the recommended 25-30 cm of knee room under any 71-76 cm Australian dining table — the same rule that applies to a dining chair. At 122 cm wide, it only tucks fully under between meals on longer tables (150 cm and up); on shorter tables expect a little overhang at the ends.
Two, comfortably. At 122 cm wide and the standard 60 cm of table edge per person, that's 2 x 60 = 120 cm — right at the bench's length. We don't claim it seats three; that would mean squeezing each person into 45 cm, tighter than the Australian comfort standard.
No — the black, brown and dirty oak options are PU (polyurethane) faux leather. It gives the leather look and wipes clean with a damp cloth, at a fraction of the price of genuine hide. If you'd prefer a soft woven finish instead, choose the black with dark grey fabric option.
PU leather: wipe with a damp cloth after meals — avoid solvents and abrasive scourers. Fabric: vacuum weekly with the upholstery brush and blot spills immediately with a dry cloth rather than rubbing. Keep both finishes out of strong direct sunlight.
Yes — it arrives partially assembled and you attach the legs with the included hardware. A screwdriver does it; an electric drill is quicker. Or add assembly at checkout for $20 flat and our team will build it on delivery.

Any standard-height table. There's no matching "Dusk" table range, so it's designed to mix and match — black finishes for a sharper modern look, brown and dirty oak for warm timber tones. A popular layout is the bench on one side with two chairs opposite, like the Dixon.
Full details
Dusk Dining Bench — full product details
The Dusk Dining Bench is an upholstered dining bench on a rubberwood frame with a padded MDF-core seat, measuring 122 cm wide, 42 cm deep and 90 cm tall with a 45 cm seat height. It comes in four colour and upholstery combinations — black with dark grey fabric, black with black PU leather, brown with brown PU leather, or dirty oak with brown PU leather.
At 122 cm wide, the standard 60 cm-per-person rule puts the Dusk's seating at two people comfortably (2 x 60 = 120 cm) — we don't stretch that to three. The 45 cm seat height sits in the same band as a standard dining chair: under a 71-76 cm Australian dining table it leaves the recommended 25-30 cm of knee room. Being armless, it slides fully under longer tables (150 cm+) between meals, with a little overhang at the ends on shorter tables. A popular layout pairs the bench on one side of the table with two dining chairs opposite, for the same total seat count as four chairs with a different look.
The bench arrives partially assembled; attach the legs with the included hardware using a screwdriver (an electric drill is quicker), or add in-home assembly for $20 flat. It ships in a single carton (124 x 43 x 14 cm) and carries a 1-year warranty. Images are for illustration only; the actual product might be slightly different — we highly recommend you visit the store before the purchase. Pair it with the Dell, Dalby or Daliya Round dining tables, or browse all dining benches. See it in person at any of our five A2Z Furniture showrooms: Rocklea, Virginia, Bundall (Gold Coast), North Ipswich and Beenleigh.
