Overview
A solid-timber dining chair that fits the table you already own
The Deepwood Dining Chair is a solid rubberwood dining chair with an MDF-braced frame and a shaped lattice backrest cut into the timber for a distinctive silhouette. The seat is bare timber — no cushion or upholstery — for a chair that's easy to keep clean and built to take everyday knocks. At 45 cm the seat height sits squarely in the band Australian dining tables are designed around, so it tucks under a standard 71–76 cm table with proper knee room. At $69 a chair it's a budget-friendly way to seat four or six — and if you'd rather not build them, add assembly for $20 a chair and we'll do it on delivery.
Solid Rubberwood & MDF
The frame and legs are built from rubberwood, a dense plantation hardwood, with MDF used in the seat and backrest panels for a stable, wobble-free chair that stands up to daily use.
Shaped Lattice Backrest
A cut-out timber pattern in the backrest gives the Deepwood a distinctive look without the cost or upkeep of upholstery — it's a design detail carved into the wood itself, not fabric or padding.
Bare Timber Seat
The seat is solid timber with no cushion or fabric — nothing to stain, tear or fade, and a quick wipe-down is all the cleaning it ever needs.
Armless — Tucks Right In
No arms means the whole chair slides under the table edge between meals, keeping walkways clear in tighter dining rooms — and there's no armrest to clash with the table apron.
Will it fit?
Will it fit your table — and how many do you need?
A dining chair is bought blind more often than any other seat — most stores don't even tell you the seat height. Two checks settle it: whether the seat height suits your table, and how many chairs your table can actually take. Here's how the Deepwood's 42 × 42 cm footprint and 45 cm seat measure up against the Australian rules of thumb.
- Check your table height first. Measure floor to tabletop. The rule is 25–30 cm between the seat and the table's underside for knee room. With a 45 cm seat, the Deepwood lands right in the ideal band under any standard 71–76 cm Australian dining table.
- Count 60 cm of table edge per chair. At 42 cm wide the Deepwood fits comfortably inside the standard spacing: a 110–120 cm table takes four, a 150 cm table takes four to six, and a 180–200 cm table seats six, or eight with the ends in use. Buying for a six-seater? You need six chairs — set the quantity above.
- No arms to catch the apron. Armchairs often can't tuck under the table's edge rail. The Deepwood is armless, so it slides fully under the table between meals — worth knowing in a dining room where every centimetre of walkway counts.
- Depth check for tight rooms. The chair is 42 cm deep, so pulled out for seating it needs roughly 90 cm of clear floor behind the table edge — the same clearance rule as the table itself.

Styling
What it pairs with
The Deepwood's timber tones and lattice backrest work best with a table that shares the same warm, natural finish. It sits comfortably with a timber table like the Dell or Dalby, and its compact 42 cm footprint also suits a round table like the Daliya in a tighter dining room. Keep the finish consistent between table and chairs for the cleanest look — mixing timber tones works best when one dominates and the other is a subtle accent.

Caring for your chairs
Wipe clean after meals
A damp cloth is all the timber seat needs — spills and fingerprints wipe straight off. Skip harsh solvents and abrasive scourers, which can dull the finish over time.
Snug the bolts twice a year
Every dining chair loosens a little with daily use. A twice-yearly once-over with a screwdriver keeps the frame tight and silent.
Keep out of direct sun
Strong direct sunlight can fade and dry out timber finishes over time. Position away from harsh sun, or close curtains during the brightest hours.
Lift, don't drag
Lifting the chair rather than dragging it across hard floors protects both the timber legs and your flooring — a small habit that adds years to the finish.

Delivery & pickup
Two ways to get them home
Delivery cost is calculated by item and distance — enter your details in the estimator above, or at checkout. Delivery is to ground level / front garage only. Chairs travel flat-packed in compact cartons, so stairs and doorways are rarely a problem; add assembly above if you'd like them built on delivery.
Collect free from our Rocklea distribution warehouse by appointment. Chair cartons are compact — a set of four typically fits in a hatchback, six in a wagon or SUV. Bring your order confirmation and photo ID. For full terms, see our Pickup & Delivery Terms.
Change-of-mind returns are accepted under our Return Policy; full conditions apply.

FAQ
Common questions
Almost certainly, if your table is a standard height. The seat sits at 45 cm, right in the ideal 43–48 cm band, which leaves the recommended 25–30 cm of knee room under any 71–76 cm Australian dining table. The chair is armless, so there are no armrests to catch on the table's edge rail — the whole chair tucks under between meals.
One chair. Set the quantity to match your table — four for a 110–150 cm table, six for a 150–200 cm table. Ordering singles also means you can replace or add a chair later without buying a whole set.
No — the Deepwood has a bare timber seat with no cushion or upholstery. It's a deliberate trade-off: nothing to stain, tear or fade, and a quick wipe is all the cleaning it needs. If you'd prefer a padded seat, browse our upholstered dining chairs instead.
Wipe the timber with a damp cloth after meals — avoid harsh solvents and abrasive scourers, which can dull the finish. Keep the chair out of strong direct sunlight to protect the colour, and lift rather than drag it across hard floors.
Yes — it arrives flat-packed and you assemble it with the included hardware. A screwdriver does it; an electric drill is quicker. Or add assembly at checkout for $20 per chair and our team will build every chair on delivery — the assembly quantity automatically matches how many chairs you order.
A rated weight capacity isn't on our supplier spec sheet, so we won't quote a number we can't stand behind. The frame is solid rubberwood and MDF, built for everyday family dining. If capacity is a deciding factor for you, call us on 07 3161 5415 and we'll help before you order.
Any standard-height table, especially timber pieces that share its warm tone. In our own range it pairs naturally with the Dell, Dalby and Daliya tables — its compact 42 cm footprint also suits smaller or round tables in tighter dining rooms.
