As with any freestanding bedroom furniture, we recommend securing tall or top-heavy pieces to the wall, particularly in homes with young children. Anti-tip wall-anchoring brackets are widely available from hardware stores and are a simple, worthwhile precaution alongside any bedside table.

Dust regularly
Soft, dry cloth; a soft brush helps clear dust from the herringbone grooves.
Avoid wet cloths
Skip soaking-wet cloths and harsh cleaners; a barely-damp cloth, dried straight after, is far kinder to the finish.
Use coasters
Stand cups, glasses and lamps on coasters or mats to guard the surface against rings and heat marks.
Polish occasionally
An occasional furniture polish or wax made for timber veneer helps keep the finish looking its best.
