The Nelson Lamp Table is the smallest piece in the Nelson range — a 60 cm square side table in solid acacia with a brushed smoke finish. Chunky square legs frame a full-width open shelf underneath, giving you a second surface without taking any more floor space. At 40 cm high it's a low, generously proportioned occasional table: the sort you sit beside an armchair, use as a compact coffee table in a smaller lounge, or park at the end of a sofa. Unlike most side tables at this price it arrives fully assembled — out of the carton and into the room.
Solid Acacia, Brushed Smoke
Real timber, not a printed board. The brushed smoke finish is deliberately linear so the grain and the natural knots in the acacia show through — which means no two tables look exactly alike.
Full-Width Open Shelf
A single open shelf spans the full footprint underneath — deep enough for a stack of books, a magazine pile or a woven basket, and easy to reach without opening anything.
Chunky Square Legs

Where does a 40 cm table actually work?
Side tables come in two heights and they do different jobs. A taller one (55–65 cm) is matched to your sofa's arm, so you can set a drink down without reaching. A lower one is matched to the seat — it reads as an occasional or accent table rather than a drinks table. The Nelson is the lower kind.
- It will sit below a typical sofa arm. At 40 cm it lands well under the 55–65 cm most Australian sofa arms fall into. If you specifically want a table level with your armrest, this isn't the one — say so and our team will point you at a taller piece.
- It matches the seat, not the arm. 40 cm sits in the same band as most sofa seat heights, which is exactly what you want beside an armchair, at the end of a sofa, or as a compact coffee table in a smaller lounge.
- The 60 cm depth is the real advantage. Most side tables give you 40 cm. A full 60 cm square takes a lamp base plus a drink plus a book without anything crowding — and squares off neatly against a wall or a sofa end.
- No walking gap needed against a sofa. Unlike a coffee table, it's meant to sit flush — push it right up. If you're using it as a small coffee table instead, leave 30–40 cm to walk past.
The Nelson's fit: 60 × 60 cm and 40 cm high. Think low and generous rather than tall and narrow — an armchair companion, a sofa-end table, or a small-room coffee table. One full-width open shelf
There are no drawers on the Nelson — it's an open piece, and that's the point. The lower shelf runs the full 60 cm square, so it takes a genuine stack of books, a pile of magazines, a woven storage basket or a tray, and everything on it stays visible and reachable. If you want a side table that hides clutter behind a drawer front, one of our drawer-fronted end tables will suit you better.

Acacia is a dense hardwood with pronounced grain and natural knots — variation between pieces is characteristic of the timber, not a fault. The Nelson shares its acacia construction and brushed smoke finish with the rest of the range, so the pieces read as a set.
Caring for your table
Dust with a dry cloth
Wipe the top and shelf weekly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. The brushed finish has texture to it, so dust settles into the grain if it's left.
Wipe spills immediately
Blot spills straight away and dry the surface. Timber and standing moisture don't mix — water left sitting can raise the grain or mark the finish.
Use coasters and felt pads
Coasters under drinks, felt pads under lamp bases and anything with a hard edge. Hot mugs left directly on timber can leave a permanent ring.
Keep out of direct sun
Prolonged direct sunlight will lighten the brushed smoke finish unevenly over time — particularly on the top, which catches the most light.

Collect free from our Rocklea distribution warehouse by appointment. It travels assembled, so you'll need a boot or back seat that takes a 60 × 60 × 40 cm table — a hatchback or wagon with the seats down is usually fine, a small sedan boot often isn't.
