Overview

A 180cm mid-century TV unit with two drawers and two open shelves

The Macleod TV Unit brings a cream-and-oak mid-century look to a generously sized 180cm stand. A drawer at each end handles cables, remotes and clutter you would rather not see, while two central open shelves keep a console, set-top box or soundbar in easy reach of the remote. Splayed tapered legs lift the whole piece off the floor for a lighter look, and at 180cm wide there is comfortably room either side of a large screen.

Suits a TV up to 70″

At 180cm wide there is room for a 70″ screen with clearance either side, so the stand still frames the television rather than disappearing behind it.

Two drawers, two shelves

A drawer at each end hides cables and remotes, while two central open shelves give a console or soundbar a ventilated home with a clear line of sight for the remote.

Tapered mid-century legs

Splayed tapered legs lift the unit off the floor for a lighter visual footprint and the mid-century-modern silhouette the Macleod range is built around.

Flat-packed to your door

Ships in one carton that fits an ordinary car boot. You will need a screwdriver, and an electric drill is recommended — or add our assembly service at checkout.

Will your TV fit?

Sizing your television to a 180 cm unit

The usual guidance is to leave around 20 cm of unit wider than the television — roughly 10 cm each side — so the screen looks balanced and the feet or pedestal sit safely on the top rather than near the edge. On a 180 cm unit that puts the comfortable ceiling at about a 70″ screen.

TV unit sizing guide: keep about 10cm of stand showing on each side of the television for roughly 20cm total clearance, remember screen size is measured diagonally not by width, and check the top load rating as well as the screen size — whichever limit is lower applies.

The Macleod’s fit: at 180 cm wide, comfortably suits a TV up to 70″, rated to approximately 30 kg.

Recommended maximum
A television up to 70″
Top surface
180 cm wide × 40 cm deep
Weight guideline
Up to approx. 30 kg on the top
Height to screen
Top sits 56 cm off the floor

These are guidelines, not tested specifications. A larger screen can still work if it is lighter than the weight guideline and its feet or pedestal sit fully within the 180 × 40 cm top — measure the distance between your television’s feet before ordering, as this varies a lot between brands. Whichever limit is lower is the one that applies, and a wall-mounted television removes the question entirely. Always secure your television with an anchor device.

Check the TV unit’s own footprint too, not just the width. Some TV units have a wide-set leg or base design, so the television’s stand or feet need more depth or a wider stance than a plainer cabinet would. Check the leg spacing and overall footprint of this unit against your television’s own specification sheet before ordering, especially if your television has an unusually wide or off-centre pedestal stand. Not sure? Call us on 07 3161 5415, or read our TV unit size guide.

Storage layout

Two drawers and two open shelves

The layout is split across the 180 cm width. A drawer at each end handles cables, remotes and everyday clutter you would rather not see. Between them, two central open shelves keep a console, set-top box or soundbar within reach and in clear line of sight for the remote, with a shelf tier splitting the space in two.

Internal measurements, drawer runner type and shelf weight capacities are not published on the specification sheet for this model — we have not estimated them here. If you need a specific device or console to fit, call 07 3161 5415 and our showroom team will measure the actual unit.

Safety

Anchor the television — it matters

Entertainment units are covered by Australia’s mandatory toppling-furniture information standard at any height, because a television is heavy, top-sitting and tempting for a child to pull on. Anchoring hardware is inexpensive, sold at any hardware store, and takes only minutes to fit.

Caring for an engineered-wood finish

🧹

Dust with a dry cloth

A soft, dry or barely damp cloth is all the finish needs. There is no timber grain to feed, so furniture oils and waxes are not required.

💧

Keep water off the edges

Wipe spills straight away, especially near joins and edges — standing moisture is the one thing that will swell an engineered-wood panel.

Use coasters and mats

Stand drinks, plants and warm devices on a mat so the finish is not marked by rings or heat.

🧶

Skip harsh cleaners

Avoid solvents, bleach and abrasive pads — they dull and scratch a laminated surface rather than clean it.

FAQ

Common questions

As a guideline, a television up to 70″. The unit is 180 cm wide and the usual advice is to leave about 20 cm more unit than television, so the screen looks balanced and the feet sit safely within the top. Remember that screen size is measured diagonally, not by width. A larger screen can still work if it is lighter than the 30 kg weight guideline and its feet sit fully within the 180 × 40 cm surface — measure the span between your television’s feet first, as it varies a lot by brand, and check it against this unit’s own footprint and leg spacing too. These are guidelines rather than tested specifications.

Around 30 kg spread across the top, as a conservative guideline for its engineered-wood construction. For context, most 65″ to 70″ televisions weigh well under 25 kg. Keep the load spread rather than concentrated at one edge, and always secure the television to the wall with an anchor device.

Yes — it arrives flat-packed in one carton and needs assembling. You will need a screwdriver, and an electric drill is recommended. Instructions and fixings are in the box. If you would rather not build it, you can add our assembly service in the cart above.

Your television does. Entertainment units of any height are covered by Australia’s mandatory toppling-furniture information standard: children have died from furniture tipover, so always secure your television with an anchor device, and never allow children to stand, climb or hang on drawers, doors or shelves. Anchor kits are inexpensive and sold at any hardware store — our showroom team can point you to a suitable one.

The specification sheet for this model does not list internal drawer or shelf measurements, and we would rather not estimate them. If a particular soundbar, console or set-top box has to fit, call us on 07 3161 5415 and our showroom team will measure the actual unit for you.

Yes. The Macleod Coffee Table and Macleod End Table share the same cream engineered-wood top, oak-coloured particle board frame and tapered timber legs — see “Complete the set” above.

Full details

Macleod TV Unit — full product details

The Macleod TV Unit is a 180cm mid-century TV stand with a drawer at each end and two central open shelves. The top is engineered wood in a cream finish, paired with an oak-coloured particle board frame and tapered solid-timber legs. Each end drawer handles cables, remotes and small clutter, while the two central open shelves keep a console, set-top box or soundbar in easy reach and clear line of sight for the remote.

At 180cm wide the Macleod comfortably carries a television up to 70″ as a guideline, leaving roughly 10 cm of clearance at each end so the screen looks balanced on the top rather than overhanging it, and the top is rated to approximately 30 kg. Both figures are guidelines rather than tested specifications, and whichever is the lower limit is the one to work to — measure the span between your television’s feet before ordering, since pedestal and foot spacing varies widely between brands. Entertainment units of any height fall under Australia’s mandatory toppling-furniture information standard, so always secure your television with an anchor device.

The Macleod TV Unit arrives flat-packed in a single carton measuring 191 × 45 × 20 cm. Assembly needs a screwdriver, with an electric drill recommended, and an assembly service can be added in the cart if you would rather not build it yourself. The price is for the TV unit alone; television, media devices and accessories are not included. Images are for illustration only and the actual product might be slightly different — we highly recommend you visit the store before the purchase.
