Overview

A dining chair with the base as the feature

The Drome Chair pairs a black PU leather seat and high padded back with a curved gold metal sled-frame base — the same gold-accented, bold-contemporary language as the rest of the Drome range. The high back has a light wingback shape at the sides for a sense of presence at the table, and the gold base gives it a dressed-up look without needing a matching table. Sold per chair at $199, most customers order six or eight to go with the matching Drome Dining Table — but it also works as a striking office chair or a pair of accent chairs.

Black PU Leather Seat

Soft and smooth with the look of real leather, but far easier to live with — spills and daily use wipe off with a damp cloth rather than soaking in.

Curved Gold Metal Base

A curved sled-frame base instead of four straight legs. It matches the gold accent plates on the Drome Dining Table, Coffee Table and TV Unit, so it slots into the rest of the range without looking like a different piece.

High Padded Back

Padded all the way up the 100 cm frame, with a light wingback shape on the sides for support through a long dinner or dinner party.

Works in Lots of Rooms

Use it as a dining chair, a stylish office chair at a home desk, or one or two accent chairs in the living room or bedroom — the black-and-gold scheme suits most modern interiors.

Will it fit?

Will it fit your table — and how many do you need?

A dining chair is bought blind more often than any other seat. Two checks settle it: whether the chair suits your table's height, and how many chairs your table can actually take. Our supplier spec sheet for the Drome gives one overall height (100 cm) rather than a separate seat-height figure, so we're straight about that gap below rather than guessing a number.

Dining sizing guide: allow 60 cm of table edge per person, leave at least 90 cm of clear floor on every side, pair a 71 to 78 cm high table with chairs of 45 to 48 cm seat height for 25 to 30 cm of knee room, and a table-length-to-seats ready reckoner from 120 cm seating four up to 270 cm seating ten.
100 cmOverall chair height — the tallest figure our supplier confirms, from floor to the top of the high padded back.
50 cmChair width — close to the 60 cm of table edge each diner needs; slightly generous is fine.
48 cmChair depth — allow it in the 90 cm clearance behind the table.
  • Seat height isn't split out on our spec sheet. Most Australian dining tables sit 71–76 cm high and want a seat around 45–48 cm for the recommended 25–30 cm of knee room. We won't invent a seat-height figure we can't stand behind — if you're matching the Drome to a specific table, measure your table height and call our showroom team on 07 3161 5415, or see the chair against a table in person.
  • Count 60 cm of table edge per chair. At 50 cm wide the Drome sits close to standard spacing — a 150 cm table takes four to six, and the matching 200 cm Drome Dining Table takes six comfortably or eight with the ends in use.
  • The high back needs a little extra room behind it. At 100 cm overall, the Drome's back is taller than most dining chairs, so allow a touch more than the standard 90 cm clearance behind the table if the space is tight — enough to push the chair back and stand without the wingback catching a wall or sideboard.
  • Depth check for tight rooms. The chair is 48 cm deep, in line with the standard 90 cm clearance rule for pulling a chair out and walking behind it.

Not sure? Measure your table height and call our showroom team on 07 3161 5415 — we'll check the fit against your table before you order, and you can try the Drome in person in our showrooms.

PU is a faux leather: it gives the leather look at a fraction of the price and wipes clean easily, but it doesn't wear like genuine hide — keep it out of harsh sun and condition it periodically and it will look right for years. Swatch and screen colours are approximate; we recommend seeing the finish in a showroom before you buy.

Caring for your chairs

🧽

Wipe down after meals

A soft, slightly damp cloth is all the black PU leather needs after meals. Skip harsh cleaning sprays, soap and alcohol-based products — they can dry the PU out over time and lead to cracks.

🧴

Condition every few months

PU leather lasts longer if you condition it every 3–6 months with a leather-safe care product. The Guardsman ProGuard Care Kit is a good option — it keeps the surface soft and helps prevent cracking.

Polish the gold frame

Wipe the gold metal base with a soft, dry cloth. Skip abrasive scourers and harsh chemicals, which can scratch the surface or dull the gold finish.

☀️

Keep out of direct sun

Strong direct sunlight fades and dries PU leather over time. Position away from harsh sun, or close curtains during the brightest hours.

Styling

What it pairs with

The Drome Chair is made to match the Drome Dining Table — the same black-and-gold palette runs through both, along with the Drome Coffee Table and Drome TV Unit for a fully matched room. Most customers order six or eight chairs for the 200 cm Drome table. The black-and-gold combination works well beyond the Drome range too — it suits marble or stone-effect feature walls, timber floors and brass or gold-toned lighting — so it also pairs with plain-based timber or stone-effect dining tables if you don't need the matching set.

What's in the box

Three cartons — screwdriver required

Each Drome chair arrives partially assembled and ships in three separate cartons rather than the single box most dining chairs come in — unusually elaborate packaging for a chair, but it protects the padded back and the gold metal base separately in transit. A screwdriver attaches the base with the included hardware; an electric drill makes it quicker. An instruction manual is included in the box. Count on a few minutes per chair — or add assembly above ($20 per chair) and our team will build every chair on delivery.

Delivery & pickup

Two ways to get them home

Delivery cost is calculated by item and distance — enter your details in the estimator above, or at checkout. Delivery is to ground level / front garage only. Each chair travels in three cartons, so stairs and doorways are rarely a problem; add assembly above if you'd like them built on delivery.

Collect free from our Rocklea distribution warehouse by appointment. Because each Drome chair ships in three cartons, bring a vehicle with enough space — a set of six chairs is 18 boxes in total. Bring your order confirmation and photo ID. For full terms, see our Pickup & Delivery Terms.

Change-of-mind returns are accepted under our Return Policy; full conditions apply.

Common questions

Our supplier spec sheet gives one overall height (100 cm) for this chair rather than a separate seat-height figure, so we won't quote a seat-height number we can't stand behind. Most Australian dining tables sit 71–76 cm high and want a chair seat around 45–48 cm — call our showroom team on 07 3161 5415 or see the Drome against your table in person before you order.

One chair. Set the quantity to match your table — most customers order six or eight to go with the matching 200 cm Drome Dining Table. Ordering singles also means you can replace or add a chair later without buying a whole set.

It's made to match the 200 cm Drome Dining Table, and shares its black-and-gold palette with the Drome Coffee Table and TV Unit. It also works with other timber or stone-effect dining tables if you like the look without buying the full matched set.
