Overview
A 200 cm TV unit built around a sculptural wave
The Darkwood TV Unit is built around one signature detail: a flowing, sculptural wave line that sweeps the full 200 cm width of the piece, curving across all four fronts — two centre drawers and two outer cabinet-style drawers — as a single continuous gesture rather than a printed pattern. It sits on a low-profile plinth base — no legs, no visible gap underneath — which grounds the piece and gives it a solid, anchored silhouette rather than a floating one. A black tempered glass top runs the length of the unit, a deliberate dark contrast against the warm reddish-brown, timber-grain body below. That body is MDF rather than solid timber, a deliberate choice: MDF holds the precise curves of the wave far more reliably than solid timber, and resists the warping that a long, continuously carved solid-wood front would be prone to over time. Underneath, two centre pull-out drawers sit flanked by two outer cabinet-style drawers, all sharing the same curved wave front, so the storage disappears into the sculptural line rather than breaking it up.
Full-width sculptural wave
A single flowing wave curves across all four fronts — the two centre drawers and two outer cabinet-style drawers — turning what could be a plain flat-pack front into the piece’s headline feature.
Suits a TV up to 80″
At 200 cm wide there is generous room either side of a large screen, so the wave front still reads clearly rather than disappearing behind the television.
Centre drawers, outer cabinets
Two centre pull-out drawers for everyday items, flanked by two outer cabinet-style drawers for larger or less-used pieces — all sharing the one curved front.
Grounded plinth base
A low-profile plinth sits flush to the floor instead of legs, giving the unit a solid, anchored stance rather than a raised, floating one.
Will your TV fit?
Sizing your television to a 200 cm unit
The usual guidance is to leave around 20 cm of unit wider than the television — roughly 10 cm each side — so the screen looks balanced and the feet or pedestal sit safely on the top rather than near the edge. On a 200 cm unit that puts the comfortable ceiling at about an 80″ screen.
The Darkwood’s fit: at 200 cm wide, comfortably suits a TV up to 80″.
- Recommended maximum
- A television up to 80″
- Top surface
- 200 cm wide × 40 cm deep
- Height to screen
- Top sits 40 cm off the floor
- Base
- Low-profile plinth — no legs
This is a derived guideline, not a tested specification. A larger screen can still work if its feet or pedestal sit fully within the 200 × 40 cm top — measure the distance between your television’s feet before ordering, as this varies a lot between brands. A wall-mounted television removes the question entirely. Always secure your television with an anchor device.
Check the TV unit’s own footprint too, not just the width. The plinth base sits flush along the full length rather than on separate legs, so check your television’s stand or feet spacing against the 200 × 40 cm top before ordering, especially if your television has an unusually wide or off-centre pedestal stand. Not sure? Call us on 07 3161 5415, or read our TV unit size guide.

Storage layout
Two centre drawers, two outer cabinets, one wave front
The 200 cm width is split into two centre pull-out drawers and two outer cabinet-style drawers, all sharing the same curved wave front so the storage reads as one sculptural piece rather than a row of separate boxes. The two centre drawers sit at the middle of the unit for everyday items — remotes, cables, chargers — while the two outer cabinet-style drawers at each end take bulkier or less frequently used pieces.
- Centre pull-out drawers
- 2 — middle of the unit
- Outer cabinet-style drawers
- 2 — one at each end
- Front detail
- Continuous sculptural wave across all four sections
- Base
- Low-profile plinth, no legs
Internal measurements and drawer runner type are not published on the specification sheet for this model — we have not estimated them here. If you need a specific device to fit, call 07 3161 5415 and our showroom team will measure the actual unit.
Safety
Anchor the television — it matters
Entertainment units are covered by Australia’s mandatory toppling-furniture information standard at any height, because a television is heavy, top-sitting and tempting for a child to pull on. Anchoring hardware is inexpensive, sold at any hardware store, and takes only minutes to fit.
- ALWAYS secure your television with an anchor device.
- NEVER allow children to stand, climb or hang on drawers, doors, or shelves.

Caring for the tempered glass top and sculpted wave front
Clean the glass top
Wipe the tempered glass top with a soft microfibre cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. For smudges, spray a non-abrasive glass cleaner onto the cloth first — never directly onto the glass.
Dust the curved fronts weekly
Use a soft, dry microfibre cloth on the wave fronts each week, paying attention to the recessed grooves where the curve dips — dust settles there more than on a flat front.
Wipe spills promptly
The body is MDF, so standing moisture can cause it to swell or stain. Dry any spill immediately rather than leaving it to sit.
Avoid direct heat
Use a coaster or trivet under hot items — prolonged heat exposure can stress the glass and mark the timber-finish surface beneath.

Common questions
It is a flowing, curved wave line that runs across the full 200 cm width of the two centre drawer fronts and two outer cabinet fronts, as one continuous shape across all four fronts rather than a printed pattern. It is the signature detail of the Darkwood range and the reason the body is MDF rather than solid timber — MDF holds the precise sculpted curves reliably and resists the warping a long solid-wood carved front would be prone to.
As a guideline, a television up to 80″. The unit is 200 cm wide and the usual advice is to leave about 20 cm more unit than television, so the screen looks balanced and the feet sit safely within the top. Remember that screen size is measured diagonally, not by width. Measure the span between your television’s feet first, as it varies a lot by brand, and check it against this unit’s own footprint too. This is a derived guideline rather than a tested specification.

Full details
Darkwood TV Unit — full product details
The Darkwood TV Unit is a 200 cm entertainment unit built around one signature detail: a sculptural wave that curves across the full width of all four fronts — two centre drawers and two outer cabinet-style drawers — in a single continuous line rather than a printed pattern. The body is made from MDF finished in a warm, reddish-brown timber-grain — a deliberate choice over solid timber, since MDF holds the precise sculpted curves reliably and resists the warping a long, continuously carved solid-wood front would be prone to over time. A black tempered glass top, heat-treated for added strength, runs the length of the unit, giving a deliberate dark contrast against the warmer body below. The unit sits on a low-profile plinth base rather than legs, giving it a grounded, anchored stance.
Underneath the wave front sit two centre pull-out drawers for everyday items, flanked by two outer cabinet-style drawers for bulkier or less-used pieces, all sharing the one curved front so the storage reads as part of the sculptural design rather than a row of separate boxes. At 200 cm wide the Darkwood comfortably carries a television up to 80″ as a guideline, leaving roughly 10 cm of clearance at each end so the screen looks balanced on the top rather than overhanging it — measure the span between your television’s feet before ordering, since pedestal and foot spacing varies widely between brands. Entertainment units of any height fall under Australia’s mandatory toppling-furniture information standard, so always secure your television with an anchor device.
The Darkwood TV Unit arrives flat-packed in a single carton measuring 205 × 45 × 25 cm. Caring for the piece means wiping the tempered glass top with a soft microfibre cloth and non-abrasive glass cleaner, dusting the wave front’s recessed grooves weekly, wiping any spill on the MDF body immediately, and keeping hot items off the glass with a coaster or trivet.
