A bed base is a supportive structure designed to sit underneath your mattress. It provides a stable foundation, promotes airflow to prevent moisture build-up, and can significantly extend the life of your mattress. Most mattress warranties require the use of a compatible base — so yes, it's worth investing in the right one.
A bed base (also called an ensemble base) typically refers to an upholstered or covered structure that supports the mattress directly — with no separate frame. A bed frame is a structural frame (timber, metal, or fabric) that elevates the mattress and base. Many of our bed frames include built-in slats or a platform for mattress support. Always match your bed base to your mattress size. Standard Australian sizes are: Single (92×187 cm), King Single (106×203 cm), Double (137×187 cm), Queen (153×203 cm), King (183×203 cm), and Super King (203×203 cm). Slatted bases are compatible with most mattress types, including memory foam, latex, pocket spring, and hybrid mattresses. Slat spacing should ideally be no more than 6–7 cm for foam mattresses to prevent sagging. If you're unsure, ask our in-store team to recommend the right combination.
Free metro delivery is available for orders within 10 km of our Rocklea (Brisbane) store — cash or card payments only, ground floor delivery, and assembly not included. For all other areas including the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, and Toowoomba, delivery fees apply based on your postcode. Our bed bases are covered by a minimum 12-month warranty, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law always apply. For serious defects, we'll repair, replace, or refund. Warranty claims within 50 km of your nearest store are handled without transport fees. Clearance and "As Is" items are excluded. See our full Warranty Policy for details.
Yes, assembly is available for an additional fee. Contact your nearest store to arrange this when placing your order or at the time of delivery booking.
